Avoid confrontation – Dog trainer tips
Avoid possible confrontation with other dogs, and help them to turn away from distractions, by scattering a few treats on the ground for them to search for.
First begin with teaching your dog to search for food at home. Scatter some treats around and let your dog hunt.
Add a word before you scatter the treats. This will help your dog to predict what is happening.
When out and about, every now and then, say the cue word and scatter some treats.
Now you’re ready to use this in the face of distraction.
Try to predict when your dog will react, use the cue and scatter the food BEFORE your dog reacts.
