Taking care of your dog
As a loving dog owner, you will always be on the lookout for the best ways to take care of your pet. A dog can be such a great pleasure to own. As long as you are a good pet owner, there is no reason why it can’t continue that way. By keeping your dog healthy and happy, you will have many great years together. This means that you must be very conscious of your dog’s health and do what’s right for your pet, even when you are having a bad day. Here are a few things to think about:
Understanding Your Dog’s Needs
As a part of the family, a dog will grow very attached to you, and you will begin to pick up on their subtle and not-so-subtle hints that something is amiss. It is up to you to understand this and try and work out a solution. Perhaps some new dog food or more walks will suffice. Maybe they need something a little more substantial such as a Pawpedics dog beds to give them a proper nights sleep. Dog’s age, too, and you need to make concessions for this. Unfortunately, many dogs suffer from separation anxiety when you leave them all day to go to work. Maybe you could organise a workaround. Could a family member look after them, for instance? Honing into your dog’s needs is essential to their overall health and wellbeing. Ways to do this include listening to how they use sound like growls, whimpers, barks, whines and howls, and the combinations they use them. Also, how are they moving? Watch their tail flicks, for example, what about their faces, ears, and other limbs? All could be indicators that something is wrong.
Train Your Dog
An untrained dog can cause havoc to all those around them. From constant barking to being more or less uncontrollable. In some cases, this can prove dangerous, if not fatal, not only to the dog from running out into a road, for example but to people as well – generally other people. A fully trained dog who is obedient will not be a danger to themselves or those around them. Training as a puppy is the clearest way to avoid all this stress, and puppy classes can be so much fun for your dog and for you.
Dogs love walks, and if you can take them to a lot of different places to heighten their life all the better. Large dogs need to be able to burn off some energy. You can’t have them in a small flat all day. It really is not fair. Let them play a little and explore the world. This will make for a far happier animal.
Food and Water
Dogs are actually omnivores, not carnivores, so a mixed diet is ideal for dogs. The right food will also help protect their teeth too. Also, always ensure there is a full bowl of water whenever you leave the house. This will stop them from becoming dehydrated, especially if you get delayed for some reason.
